What Are the Different Poker Hands?
When you’re playing party poker, one of the first things that it’s important to learn, if not the first thing, is the different poker hands. The different hands are the various combinations of cards in an order or hierarchy that dictates strength. For example, two Queens will beat two 2′s, though they do come under the same category of ‘one pair’. The hands are as follows, in ascending order – high card, one pair, two pair, three of a kind, flush, straight, full house, four of a kind, straight flush, royal flush. The strength of each hand becomes higher depending on the likelihood of securing it. For example a royal flush, which is a run of five royals from 10 to Ace all of the same suit, is far rarer than say a pair of sevens. Betting on a royal flush in full tilt poker is almost a guaranteed win because it is so rare. One more tip: Don’t go all in with a pair of 2′s!
